Best Bets For Christmas Day NFL Games
Christian Watson To Score Touchdown +120
Christian Watson has become the unquestioned top receiver for the Packers over the course of the last five weeks. He saw his role elevated and rewarded the team handsomely for doing so. He had his scoring streak snapped last week, but not for lack of effort. He missed a hot route signal from Aaron Rodgers late in the game, and it cost him a walk in touchdown as he went to block instead of catch the ball. That would have been his ninth touchdown in five games. Even still, he had eight touchdowns in the four games leading up to that one. Now he enters a game that gives him a soft matchup with shoot out potential. Take Watson to score with the plus figure.
Los Angeles Rams +3 vs Denver Broncos
This midday Christmas matchup is between two of the worst offenses in the NFL. The Rams are an injury riddled mess, but still have a quality defense and are playing at home. The Broncos have seen countless injuries at skill positions as well, and continue to be unable to overcome that. Russell Wilson will be back under center, but it is up for debate whether that is a good thing. We would have to go all the way back to Week 4 to find the last time the Broncos scored 20 or more on the road. They have just 19 combined total points in their last two road games. While it does feel gross to make a bet on the Rams at this juncture, facing an offense that can’t score at home while getting points is absolutely the best method of attack for this game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers -7.5 vs Arizona Cardinals
The Buccaneers remain in a dog fight in the NFC South, and continue to be the best of four bad teams. While not a total flop, the Bucs continue to be just a shell of the team they were in previous seasons. Fortunately for them they are now facing a team that is down to a sub replacement level third string quarterback. With the losses of Kyler Murray and Colt McCoy, it will be Trace McSorley for the Cardinals on Christmas. Normally, leaning on the run game would be a viable approach, but the Bucs are very good up front and the defense is more of a pass funnel. The Cardinals will not be able to exploit the best avenue of attack against the Bucs, and will in turn have massive difficulty putting points on the board. Take the Bucs to win by more than a touchdown in what could be a low scoring game in which they have no problems covering.
