DraftKings UFC 273 Preview
The first title fight of the night is for the Bantamweight championship as Aljamain Sterling will look to defend his belt for the first time. Sterling will be battling Petr Yan who he won the belt from back in UFC 259. Sterling won that belt in controversial fashion as he became the first UFC fighter to ever win a championship by disqualification. Sterling has not fought since that night and has not lost a fight since December 2017, a span of six fights. Petr Yan won the interim belt, in Sterling’s absence, with a unanimous decision over Cory Sandhagen in UFC 267. I like Petr Yan to become the outright UFC Bantamweight champion.
The main event will be a battle for the UFC Featherweight belt between current champ Alexander Volkanovski and The Korean Zombie. Volkanovski won the belt back at UFC 245 and has successfully defended it twice over the past two years. The Great has not lost a fight since May 2013 – a span of 20 fights. The Korean Zombie, Chan Sung Jung, is getting his second shot at the belt and looking to win it for the first time. Jung first fought for the belt back in 2013 but was TKO’d by Jose Aldo. He has fought just six times since 2013 and has won four of those fights. Expect Alexander Volkanovski to defend his belt yet again.
