Believe it or not, another presidential election in the United States is fast approaching, as November of 2024 is just a year and a half away. With presidential campaigns kicking off, election betting odds are popping up at many legal betting sites. Here, we look at the legal status of presidential election betting and what the landscape looks like going into 2024.
Can I Bet On the 2024 Election?
Right now, election betting is not legal in the United States, as regulated sportsbooks do not offer markets on political markets. This is by and large a good idea, as bettors could be influenced to make their voting decisions based on their bets rather than voting based on who they think the best candidates are. But there is the ability to bet on the 2024 presidential election in Canada.
Ontario has legal sports betting sites that do offer wagering on the upcoming presidential election. With Canadians unable to vote in US elections, there are no integrity concerns associated with betting on the upcoming election North of the border. That makes election betting a legal wagering option in a major jurisdiction, which makes election betting fascinating to talk about from a betting perspective.

Presidential Election Analysis
As you can see from the odds listed above, we could be in for another Biden vs Trump slugfest for the White House in 2024. Is it depressing that we as a nation cannot come up with any better options than two men above the age of 75? Absolutely, but that is where we are as a society for better or worse, so bettors may as well try and make some money off of the circus over the next 18 months.
Biden is the favorite at this point as the incumbent, and as someone who is unlikely to face much primary pressure from the rest of the Democratic Party. With the Republican Party set to go through the primary process over the next year or so, there is at least some doubt as to who will oppose him on the other side of the aisle. But Donald Trump is likely to emerge as the Republican candidate as long as he remains unencumbered by any legal troubles.
As we get closer to the 2024 election, it is likely that we end up with a coin flip between Biden and Trump. Therefore, strictly from a betting perspective, it may be smart to grab Trump at +300 and hope that he avoids disqualification as we get closer to election time. This is not an endorsement of any candidate, just analysis of the betting markets.
