Monchengladbach vs Dortmund – 03/07/20 – Bundesliga Odds, Preview & Prediction

A top four battle takes place in Germany, on Saturday, March 7, 2020, as fourth place Borussia Monchengladbach hosts third place Borussia Dortmund. Neither team can afford to drop points if they want to stay as title contenders.

Borussia Monchengladbach currently sit in fourth place in the Bundesliga and occupy the final Champions League spot. Monchengladbach are in an odd position as they are still fringe title contenders, at just six points back, but are just two points away from falling into the Europa League spots. Borussia Monchengladbach do not have any other competitions to focus on the rest of the season.

Borussia Dortmund enter in third place in the Bundesliga and are just four points back of league leaders Bayern Munich. Dortmund should be fine in the Champions League spots, but are just four points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen in fifth place. Borussia Dortmund also have the Champions League to worry about as they currently hold a 2-1 lead over PSG as the tie heads to Paris next week.

Below is my pick for the Bundesliga action between Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund. All odds are from FanDuel Sportsbook.

Borussia Monchengladbach (+220) vs Borussia Dortmund (+105) Draw (+280)

Borussia Monchengladbach continued their good form with a 3-2 road win over mid-table Augsburg. It was a scoreless first half, but the second half was all fireworks as Monchengladbach scored three goals, in 30 minutes, to come away with the win. Monchengladbach are now unbeaten in five games and will look to extend the streak to six at home where they are a top three Bundesliga side this season.

It was not the performance we have all come to be used to, but Borussia Dortmund came away with a 1-0 win over a feisty Freiburg side. Jaden Sancho scored in the 15th minute and that was all the hosts needed to come away with all three points. It was the first time since December 20th that Dortmund has not scored more than one goal in a competitive game. Dortmund have now won four in a row and will look to extend that streak to five on the road where they have been a top six side this season.

Series History: Dortmund have dominated this match-up, over the past five years, winning the last 10 meetings between these two by a combined score of 28-7

Game Prediction: I expect lots of goals in this one, so I am backing over 2.5 goals at -205.

2020 Results: 28-19
