MLS Betting Odds, Picks & Best Bets – May 12th

There are two great matchups on Sunday in the MLS including one rivalry game and an intra-conference matchup between two historic MLS clubs. The best game of the day is Atlanta United, who finally seem to have found their form this season, welcome rivals Orlando City to Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The other matchup, which a few weeks ago looked like the best game on the schedule, is DC United hosting Sporting Kansas City at Audi Field.

Entering play Sunday Atlanta United sit at 14 points in nine games while Orlando City sit with 12 points from 10 games. DC United have 20 points through 11 games while Sporting Kansas City have just 10 points through nine games.

Here are my best bets for the Sunday action in the MLS.

Atlanta United (-227) vs Orlando City (+500): Draw – (+375)

Atlanta United have finally seem to snap out of the CONCACAF Champions League funk and have won their last three games without conceding a single goal. In fact, the last six MLS wins by Atlanta have all come without them conceding a goal. Atlanta have played nine games this MLS season and their record stands at 4-2-3, which is surprising considering the 2018 MLS champs made slight work of the league last season. Even more surprising is that Atlanta United have won just two times in their five home games so far in 2019. Mercedes-Benz Stadium was a fortress for Atlanta last season, but that has not been the case early on in 2019.

Orlando City FC enter Sunday’s rivalry game without a win in their last games and without scoring more than one goal in their last four games.

I like Atlanta United to get the win and extend their win streak to four games.

Atlanta United lead the all-time series 4-2-0 and are currently on a three game winning streak in the series.

DC United (+120) vs Sporting Kansas City (+190): Draw – (+275)

DC United enter Sunday’s game with one of the best records in the entire MLS and they welcome a Sporting Kansas City team that is broken at the moment.

DC United have played 11 games this season and their record stands at 6-2-3. At Audi Field they sit at 3-1-2 in six games played and have not won consecutive games there all season. Having won their last home game against the Crew, DC United will look to break the alternating wins and losses on Sunday.

Sporting Kansas City have not won a game in any competition since March 30th, a span of seven games, and right now look like they could not stop a youth team from scoring. During this seven match winless run, which includes the CONCACAF semifinals against Monterrey, SKC have conceded 24 goals while scoring 10. In MLS road games SKC have just two points and four goals.

I like DC United to get the win on Sunday.

In the last five H2H games between the two the series is tied 1-3-1 and no team has scored more than one goal in any game. It is the same story when DC United hosts as they lead the H2H 1-4-0 and no one has scored more than one goal in a game.

YTD Soccer Results: 53-51
