Another big weekend is upon us and all of Europe is gearing up for title races and relegation battles. They are not many high profile games this weekend, but there are still plenty of reasons to be interested throughout the continent. Let’s take a look at the three best bets for the upcoming weekend.
English Premier League
Southampton vs Tottenham: Tottenham -118
Tottenham, coming off a big road win at Borussia Dortmund to advance to the Champions League quarterfinals, will travel to face Southampton. This could be a very interesting game as Southampton is just two points clear of the relegation zone and Tottenham is just four points clear of landing in the Europa League. Both teams have a lot to play for and I think it will be a thrilling watch.
Spurs are the best road team in Premier League and won’t drop a game to a bottom half team at this point in the season. I think it’ll be interesting, and close, but Tottenham gets out of town with a win.
Spain La Liga
Levante vs Villarreal: Villarreal +150
This is a huge game for Villarreal’s relegation fight. They travel to Levante who are also in the bottom half of the league, though they do have some cushion over the relegation zone, fresh off a big road win in Russia in the Europa League. Over the last five, ten and 15 games, these two teams are in the same exact form and not much separate them.
Villarreal is going to use the big Europa League road win to get a massive three points and potentially get to safety if other results go their way.
Italian Serie A
Chievo vs AC Milan: Milan -182
Milan visits the last place team, and Serie B bound, Chievo, on Saturday, looking for three big points in the Champions League race. Milan is the sixth best road team in Italy while Chievo is second from the bottom in home form. Over the last ten games Milan has the second best form in the league and Chievo, like that have been all year, is last.
Milan is only four points clear in the Champions League race and cannot afford to drop points to the last place squad. Milan rolls and get the points they need.
