Bayern Munich vs Schalke 1/25/19 – Bundesliga Odds, Preview & Prediction

The game of the week in Germany takes place in Munich as Bayern Munich host Schalke on Saturday January 25, 2020.

Bayern enter match day 19 in second place just four points behind leaders RB Leipzig. The German giants are only four points off the lead, but also just three points from dropping into the Europa League spots as the top of the Bundesliga table is as tight as ever. Bayern are also through to the DFB Pokal Round of 16 and are in the Champion’s League knockout stages that begin next month.

With their win last weekend Schalke kept themselves in the tight title race and sit in fifth place just five points back of first place RB Leipzig. Schalke currently occupy the first Europa League spot, but are tied on points with Borussia Dortmund for the final Champion’s League spot and are just two points back of third place Monchengladbach. Schalke are also through to the DFB Pokal Round of 16.

Below is my pick for the Bundesliga action between Bayern Munich and Schalke. All odds are from PointsBet Sportsbook.

Bayern Munich (-600) vs Schalke (+1300) Draw (+650)

It was a slow start for Bayern, but they used four second half goals to come away with a 4-0 road win over Hertha Berlin last weekend. After going on a surprising two game Bundesliga losing streak the Bavarians have now won four straight and have a great shot to once again win the Bundesliga title. Bayern are the third best home team in Germany having won 19 points from nine home fixtures this season.

Schalke came out of the winter break and got a huge 2-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach. The Miners were able to withstand Monchengladbach’s first half pressure and scored two goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to come away with the big win. Schalke is a top of the table road team this season having won 14 points from eight road fixtures – good for sixth in the Bundesliga.

Series History: Bayern has not los to Schalke since 2011 and have a record of 17 wins and three draws.

Game Prediction: I’m taking a shot here and thinking Schalke will use the momentum from their last game to play to a draw in Munich. I am backing a draw at +650.

2020 Results: 8-4
