Arsenal vs Manchester United – Premier League Odds, Pick & Prediction

A classic “Big Six” game is on the fixture list New Year’s Day as 12th place Arsenal welcome 5th place Manchester United to Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are suffering one of their worst seasons in recent memory as they are closer to the relegation zone than to a European spot. The Gunners are sitting on 24 points through 20 games and trail Manchester United by six points for the Europa League spot. A win Sunday could see Arsenal jump Newcastle, Everton and Crystal Palace, and cut United’s advantage over them in half.

Resurgent Manchester United have bolted up the Europa League spot and now trail Chelsea by just four points for the final Champions League spot. Plenty of teams are hot on the Red Devil’s tails as Tottenham, Wolves and Sheffield United are all within two points.

Below is my pick for the Premier League action between Arsenal and Manchester United. All odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook.

Arsenal (+170) vs Manchester United (+150) Draw (+260)

Arsenal has now won just one time in their last ten games after falling 2-1 to Chelsea on Sunday. The Gunners will be especially disappointed with the Chelsea result after leading that game all the up until the 83rd minute. Arsenal is winless in their last five games, having drawn three and lost two, and need to get the full three points against United midweek. Arsenal are near the bottom of the table having won just 13 points from 10 home fixtures this season.

Manchester United continued their recent good form with a nice 2-0 win at Burnley on Saturday. United scored in the final minute of the first half, and five minutes into stoppage time of the second half, to secure their second straight win. The Red Devils have now won six of their last ten games and six of their last eight. Their only loss during this nice eight game run was a surprising 2-0 loss to relegation side Watford. United have been middle of the table on the road this season having won 12 points from 10 games.

Series History: Manchester United leads the all-time series 97-52-83 after the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in late September.

Game Prediction: I like Mikel Arteta to get his first win as manager of Arsenal in this New Year’s Day fixture.

YTD Results: 122-119
