Two more Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 games are on the schedule Saturday and three of the four teams competing have championship aspirations. Nigeria, the Group B runners-up, take on Cameroon, the Group F runners-up, and Egypt, the Group A winners, battle South Africa who advanced as one of the top third place teams.

Below are my two best bets for the Round of 16 Africa Cup of Nations games.

Nigeria (+150) vs Cameroon (+210): Draw (+190)

Nigeria, the Group B runners-up, advanced to the knockout stage by compiling six points in their three group stage games. Nigeria opened up their 2019 AFCON campaign with a 1-0 win over Burundi, followed that up with a 1-0 win over Guinea before falling 2-0 to Madagascar in the final group stage game. Nigeria, three time champions of this tournament, will be competing in their 16th AFCON knockout stage.

Cameroon, the Group F runners-up, advanced to the 2019 AFCON knockout round by earing five points and not conceding a goal during the group stage. Cameroon opened their group stage play with a 2-0 win over Guinea Bissau and then played to two 0-0 draws, against Ghana and Benin, to finish up the group stage. Cameroon, the four time AFCON champions, will be competing in their 14th knockout stage.

I like Cameroon to the get the win on Saturday.

These two nations have met 22 times in the past and it is Nigeria that holds an 11-7-4 advantage. The two last played in 2017, during World Cup qualifying, when the two played to a 0-0 draw.

Egypt (-175) vs South Africa (+550): Draw (+260)

Egypt, the host nation and Group A winners, advanced to the knockout stage with a perfect group stage record. The Egyptians opened up the 2019 AFCON tournament with a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe, then beat D.R. Congo 2-0 and finished up their group stage with a 2-0 win over Uganda. Egypt, the seven time AFCON champions, will be competing in their 20th knockout stage.

South Africa, one of the top third place teams, advanced to the knockout stage by winning just one game during the group stage. The South Africans started their AFCON campaign with a 1-0 loss to Ivory Coast, then beat Namibia 1-0 before falling to Morocco 1-0 to end the group stage. South Africa, one time winners of this tournament, will be competing in their sixth knockout stage.

I like the host nation, Egypt, to get the win.

The two nations have played 11 times in the past and South Africa holds a 6-1-4 advantage. The two last met in a 2017 friendly when South Africa came away with a 1-0 win.

YTD Soccer Results: 117-113
