Why Bet on Tottenham:
✅ Spurs have a reputation for saving their best for the big matches against big clubs under manager Antonio Conte. This match fits the bill as one of those type of matches where they should rise to the occasion against Milan.
✅ Antonio Conte’s record at the San Siro is sublime. The Italian manager has 39 career wins with just eight defeats in his 59 trips to Milan’s stadium.
✅ Milan’s defense has been shaky along with their recent form. They have won just once in their last five matches and are conceding three goals per game during this stretch.

AC Milan
Milan’s 1-0 win over Torino this weekend was a desperately needed result to avoid hosting Tottenham in the midst of a full blown crisis. Olivier Giroud’s second half goal snapped a seven game stretch without a win that included a 1-0 loss to Torino that knocked them out of the Coppa Italia in the Round of 16 stage.
The win over Torino was just the second win for AC Milan since returning from the World Cup break. That is a concern considering they are facing a Tottenham side that has a recent win over Manchester City and far more positive results in 2023.
If Milan are to get a home advantage out of the first leg to go to London with, they will likely need veteran leadership from Olivier Giroud up front. Giroud leads Milan with four Champions League goals this season and leads the club with 11 goals in all competitions. The big question will be how much of the match Giroud can play after playing a pivotal role against Torino over the weekend as the aging French striker could be limited on Tuesday night.
Tottenham Hotspur
After a massive win over Manchester City, Spurs threw all their momentum away in classic Spurs fashion against struggling Leicester City over the weekend. After Rodrigo Bentancur opened the scoring to give Tottenham the 1-0 lead, things completely fell apart from there as they conceded the next four goals to lose 4-1.
Bentancur’s goal was followed by a season ending injury to further compound Spurs’ woes on the day. Bentancur’s injury and a suspension to Pierre-Emile Højbjerg leaves Conte with a decision on what to do with his central midfielders as he is now without two of his most reliable options in the middle of the park.
If Spurs are to secure a positive result in the away leg at the San Siro, they desperately need their longtime leaders in attack to step up. Harry Kane has just one Champions League goal after the group stage and Son Heung-min found the back of the net just twice. The pair have scored most of Spurs big goals over the last decade and with key injuries at play, they will need to lead the line once again.
On the leadership front, Spurs will be without their captain in goal as Hugo Lloris is out injured. Fraser Forster will likely remain in the Starting XI in his place after giving up four against Leicester and will want to make a few saves early to get some confidence going.
