Can Jets Snap Losing Streak With Rare Road Win?
Week 13 of the NFL season saw the New York Jets lost at home to the Seattle Seahawks to drop to 3-9 on the season. The Jets led 14-0 and 21-7 in the first half of that game but were held scoreless in the second half to relinquish their lead and lost their third straight game. Here, the Jets will look to turn things around, but will have to get a win on the road to do so, something that has not been easy for them to do.
So far this season, the Jets have gone just 1-5 on the road for the year. That road win came against the Tennessee Titans early in the year, with the Titans being one of the few teams in the league that might be worse than the Jets this year. Against a Miami team that is capable of moving the ball on offense, the Jets are in real danger of losing a sixth road game in seven tries.
Normally, the strength of the Jets is their defense, which has at least been respectable even if their offense has not. But the Jets secondary will have its hands full with a very good Dolphins offense that features Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and several dangerous backs. If the Jets experience even a slight drop-off on defense, that could be enough to give the Jets their 10th loss of the season.
Dolphins Running Out Of Time In Wild Card Race
The last time we saw the Miami Dolphins, they were decimated by the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving night. Miami allowed 30 points to the Packers in that contest, dropping them to 5-7 on the year. That leaves the Dolphins multiple games behind the teams that currently occupy Wild Card slots in the AFC, with time running out on the Dolphins to move up in the standings to claim one of those spots.
In this game, it will be up to the Dolphins to perform better on the defensive side of the ball to avoid falling to 5-8 and moving further behind the eight-ball in the AFC playoff picture. While the Jets have struggled throughout this year, they always have the potential to break out offensively with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. That is especially true given how porous the Miami defense has been throughout the year.
Also worth monitoring going into this game is Tyreek Hill’s involvement in the Miami offense. Hill scored a touchdown late last week against the Packers, but that was off of a tipped pass and not intended for Hill. He hasn’t had a catch for over 30 yards since the first week of this season and that would be a nice streak for the Dolphins to break as they look to get back on track offensively.
Jets vs Dolphins Best Bet
Our top betting pick for Jets vs Dolphins on Sunday is for the game to go over the total in Miami. The Jets defense struggled at home last week with Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks. On the road against a much better offensive team, we expect more problems for the Jets defense, while Miami’s porous defense should allow the Jets to do some scoring of their own.
