Jaguars Facing QB Injury Questions
The Jacksonville Jaguars lost at home to the Houston Texans in Week 13. But more important than the end result of that game was the injury suffered by quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who was knocked out of that game in the first half after a helmet-to-helmet hit from Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. Lawrence’s status has not been confirmed in either direction yet for Week 14, but after watching that hit, it is entirely possible that he will miss this Jaguars vs Titans matchup.
Jacksonville has lost five games in a row coming into this week’s action. To make matters worse, they are on the road, where they are 0-6 on the season going into this AFC South matchup. In fairness to the Jaguars, they have faced a brutal schedule on the road this year, but there is very little reason to have faith in the Jags on the road based on their track record in 2024.
As for this game, the running game of Jacksonville will be of paramount importance to them on offense. With questions galore at the quarterback position, the Jags will need to find a way to move the ball on the ground to alleviate the pressure on Lawrence, Mac Jones, or anyone else who takes snaps for them. Running the football has not been a strength of the Jags this year, but it will have to be if they are going to win this week.
Can Titans Put End to Home Struggles?
Last time out, the Tennessee Titans were blown out by the Washington Commanders on the road. Washington took a huge lead in the first quarter of that game and they never looked back, with the Titans dropping to 3-9 on the season with that loss. This week, the Titans are back at home to face the Jaguars, with the question being whether or not being at home is a good thing for them.
Going into this week, the Titans are just 1-4 at home on the season. Their lone home win has come against the New England Patriots, who are right there with the Titans in contention for the dubious honor of being the worst team in the AFC. Tennessee faces another contender for the bottom of the AFC hierarchy in this game in the Jaguars, but it is clear that there is no guarantee the Titans will win even with that in mind.
For the Titans, the key to this game is going to be their run defense. With the Jaguars quarterback situation being such a mess, it would behoove the Titans to stuff the run on early downs and force the Jags to throw in predictable passing situations. If they can do that, they could prolong the losing streak of the Jaguars in this contest.
Jaguars vs Titans Prediction
Backing either side in this Jaguars vs Titans matchup feels like playing with fire, as both teams have been just dreadful throughout this season. Instead, we will take the over in this contest, as both defenses should struggle while Tennessee’s struggling defense should quiet the quarterback concerns the Jags have going into this division matchup.
