Broncos Look to Strengthen Playoff Positioning
Last time out, the Denver Broncos ran away from the Indianapolis Colts in the second half of their AFC matchup from the Mile High City. The Broncos overcame some early Bo Nix turnover issues and forced plenty of turnovers of their own from Anthony Richardson of the Colts to improve to 9-5 on the season. Here, the Broncos are underdogs at DraftKings Sportsbook and other sportsbooks, but they are looking for their fifth win in a row nonetheless.
For Denver, Nix has to limit his turnovers for them to have a chance to extend their winning streak this week. Nix was able to get away with multiple interceptions against a Colts team whose quarterback is worse than Nix is. But against a Chargers team that is elite on defense and has a more poised quarterback, turnovers could be fatal to the hopes of the Broncos this week.
Can Chargers Defense Bounce Back?
Last week was a huge disappointment for the Los Angeles Chargers. They were torched by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who scored 40 points against a Chargers defense that has been one of the best in the NFL for most of the year. After Mike Evans decimated the Chargers secondary for multiple touchdowns last week, the Bolts will look to bounce back on defense as Jim Harbaugh’s team searches for a much-needed win at home.
Justin Herbert threw an interception against the Bucs, something he hadn’t done since September 15, when he threw an interception against Carolina. If Herbert can avoid turnovers in this game against the Broncos, that and the Chargers defense will be expected to carry the Bolts through this contest.
Broncos vs Chargers Prediction
We will take the Los Angeles Chargers to win and cover the spread at home in Sunday’s Broncos vs Chargers matchup. The Chargers defense should bounce back nicely this week against a more turnover-prone quarterback in Bo Nix. Look for the Chargers to bring the records of these teams back to the same 9-6 mark, setting up a very exciting final two weeks of the season for both sides.
