Key Storylines
One of the biggest developments going into this game is that Kevin Durant will not play, as he’s out for personal reasons. Despite that, Houston remains a strong side as a whole. Their offense is humming, and Alperen Şengün is leading the way outside of Durant. He is averaging 22.7 PPG, 10.0 RPG, and 7.3 APG, leading the Rockets in rebounding and assists. The Rockets are also dealing with more absences. Tari Eason (oblique) is out 4–6 weeks, and Dorian Finney‑Smith (ankle) is also sidelined. Meanwhile, Fred VanVleet is out for the season.
The Suns are winners of their last three games. But they’re banged up as well. Grayson Allen (quadricep), Jalen Green (hamstring), Ryan Dunn (wrist), and Rasheer Fleming (ankle) are listed on the injury report. Green is out for this game, while the other three names on their injury report are listed as questionable to take part in this matchup.
The key to this game is which team can figure out a way to produce in spite of the injuries they are dealing with. The Suns are 8-2 at home on the season, but being short-handed could cause them problems against one of the best teams in the Western Conference, even with Durant out of action.

Final Thoughts
Despite missing key contributors, the Rockets appear to have a clearer path to victory than the Suns in this matchup. Sengun is going to be an extremely tough cover for Phoenix in this game and he should go off with increased usage with Durant out of action. I’ll lay the points with Houston here in what will be one of the best games on the NBA schedule on Monday night.
