Philadelphia heads into this game riding positive momentum. They are 14‑7‑3 overall and have won their last three games. In division play, they are 5‑0‑1. Their last meeting with Pittsburgh resulted in a 3‑2 shootout win earlier this season. Pittsburgh is 12‑7‑5, with a 4‑1‑3 record in the division. The Pens claimed a gritty 4‑3 overtime victory over Columbus before losing 7-2 on the second leg of a back-to-back on Thursday and Friday.
The Flyers are likely to rely on Dan Vladar in goal. Vladar recently made 29 saves in a win over the Devils and has posted a goals‑against average of 2.43. Goaltending has been a key reason Philadelphia ranks among the better defensive squads this season. The Penguins are expected to go with Arturs Silovs. Siloves recently allowed four goals on just 10 shots in Toronto. Backup Tristan Jarry remains available should Silovs struggle again. Goaltending could shape the outcome of this contest.
Offensively, Pittsburgh leans heavily on Sidney Crosby, who leads the team with 16 goals and 11 assists. Evgeni Malkin has also been crucial, with a team-high 18 assists. Philadelphia's Trevor Zegras is the engine for his team up front. He leads the Flyers with 9 goals and 15 assists (24 points), and has been a catalyst in their recent wins.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Sidney Crosby | Over 0.5 Goals |
Trevor Zegras | Over 0.5 Points |
Evgeni Malkin | Over 0.5 Assists |
Score Projection: Flyers 4 – Penguins 3
Win Probability: Flyers 54%, Penguins 46%
Philadelphia enters this game as the more stable, defensively disciplined team playing at home. The Penguins have firepower in the form of Crosby and Malkin, but I don't think that's going to be enough for the Pens to defeat their in-state rivals here. I'm going to take the Flyers to win at home on Monday night.
