UFC Austin is a very fun and high end Fight Night card originating from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. After returning to the Apex in Las Vegas for a number of Fight Night cards, the promotion is back out on the road. It is great to see as, frankly, MMA is just better with fans in attendance. The headlining bout is at featherweight and will be a striking matchup between strikers with contrasting styles.

Quick Look Back
UFC 275 turned out to be an outstanding event. It was an absolute joy to watch, even without a long bet slip. We entered the card with three plays, but lost our underdog play when the Rogerio Bontorin vs Manel Kape fight was cancelled. That left us with two betting plays, which went 1-1. The loss was on Batgarel Danaa against Kyung Ho Kang. The decision went to Kang, but I personally scored the first two rounds for Danaa. I would certainly not call it a robbery, but the ball did not bounce our way on that one.
The win was on Brendan Allen. Allen essentially fought as bad of a fight as he could have possibly fought, but still pulled out the win. This exact outcome is why I was fully willing to lay upwards of 3:1 on Allen. Even in a worst case scenario, the bet came out a winner.
UFC Austin Fight Card
I’ve already said this, but this is truly a card to have excitement for. The one potential criticism is that the main event could be a bit more star studded, but I am a fan of both fighters in that fight and am quite content with how the card is made. From top to bottom, we are going to get fun fights. There are just a plethora of fighters on the card that have attainable ceilings within the UFC.
Main Event
The featherweight main event between Josh Emmett and Calvin Kattar is going to be an extremely fun striking war. The volume and precision of Kattar will be pitted against the other worldly power of Emmett. While the majority of the fight will play out on the feet, the strikers bring different approaches. We will have a bet on this fight, so much more on this one in a bit.
Co-Main Event
The co-main event between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is a fun matchup between truly tenured vets. Two pillars of UFC history will clash. This is a rescheduled fight, and I am glad that the fight was rebooked. It really should be a fun one. This is another fight we will have a wager on, so again, much more on this fight in a bit.
Remainder Of UFC Austin Card
With the main and co-main events being rock solid bookings, what do the other 12 fights look like? In a word, fantastic. We get to see Kevin Holland and Damir Ismagulov take steps forward on the main card. The main card kicks off with an Adrian Yanez fight, so we know we are going to have fun there. On the prelims we get to see some lesser known fighters that bring real ability. Some of these fighters just have not had a large amount of UFC experience or have had hiccups, but have the ability to ascend. Those fighters include Jeremiah Wells, Ricardo Ramos and Gloria de Paula. I would be remiss to not mention fighters like Phil Hawes and Roman Dolidze will have shots at advancement in their respective matchups as well.
