Tabatha Ricci vs Maria Oliveira Betting Preview
Tabatha Ricci enters her second UFC fight, but the first one at her natural weight class. Her debut was a short notice fight, and one she probably should not have taken in hindsight. She fought the much larger Manon Fiorot, and the sheer size and power difference made her unable to get her grappling game going. The same will not be true the second time around. Ricci brings a diverse skill set, but her grappling is absolutely the strength. She has extremely high end judo and BJJ chops, and is developing as a wrestler as well. She is very heavy on top on the floor, and that is exactly where the majority of this fight will take place. Ricci will keep the striking portion of the fight close, but only until she drags the fight down. The advantage she has on the floor in this matchup is about as wide of an advantage as we will see in the UFC. The thing we did learn about Ricci in the Fiorot fight is she is tough and durable. She took a beating against a much larger fighter and did not relent. That is a bit of comfort to know a flash KO or a newer fighter quitting is not a reasonable worry.

Maria Oliveira makes her debut, and she is a very questionable signing for the promotion. She has a 12-4 record in MMA, but the level of competition is suspect, to say the least. The one notable fight she did have was when Marina Rodriguez tore her apart in just three minutes. That is a bad look for a fighter whose only skill set is that of a striker. Back to the level of competition. Her 12 wins have come against fighters that would be beaten by anyone that is remotely close to possessing a UFC level skill set. The combined record of those 12 opponents sits at 8-17. That’s right, those 12 fighters only combined for 25 previous fights, and lost two thirds of them on the regional scene. She has no grappling game to speak of, and she will have no answer for Ricci on the mat. She will be unable to get back to her feet and the real question is how long she can last without being finished.
Ricci will be able to impose her will on Oliveira. She will take Oliveira down, and once there, she will control with ease. She will also be able to improve position and attack submissions throughout. This fight will look more like a BJJ clinic than a fight, and we will take Ricci to win ITD at a favorable +140. That line is being steamed, as it was +165 just a day ago. Get in there quickly.
