Norma Dumont is a natural featherweight with a complete skill set that will give her a lot of advantages in this fight. She will be the stronger and thicker fighter, but the price of that will be a reach disadvantage. Chiasson will have 4” of height and 5” of reach. While those figures are significant, Chiasson will not be able to dictate how this fight takes place against Dumont.
Dumont is the more powerful of the two fighters, and she knows how to dictate the pace of a fight and how it plays out. That was never more evident than in her most recent win against Aspen Ladd. She will attack at all three levels and does very good work in the clinch. That is where she will have a significant advantage in this fight, simply latching on to Chiasson. Takedowns very well could come and would be a huge boon as Chiasson can be controlled and ultimately finished on the floor. However, even if it is just controlling and working in the clinch, Dumont will have something of an easy time taking rounds from Chiasson.
This will not remotely be the most exciting fight of the evening, but it is one that sets up very well for the favorite. I do not believe the move up to featherweight will do any favors for Chiasson as Dumont will be the significantly stronger fighter.
