Key Storylines
Bowling Green enters this contest trying to salvage a frustrating campaign. The Falcons have dropped five straight games and their bowl path is gone. Earlier this fall, Bowling Green dismissed offensive coordinator Travis Partridge after weeks of stagnation. The offense has averaged only 18.3 points per game, often struggling to sustain drives or convert in scoring territory. But they have a great chance to end this season on a high note against the worst team in FBS football this year.
UMass is still searching for its first victory of the season. Sitting at 0–11, the Minutemen have endured a difficult year marked by a lack of production on both sides of the ball. They even lost their game against an FCS opponent early in the season and they will try to end their season with a win in this matchup. Their defensive issues have persisted and the offense has failed to establish rhythm with frequent quarterback rotation. Even so, with a home crowd and a chance to avoid a winless season, their motivation should be high.
Quarterback Play
Bowling Green went with Hunter Najm at quarterback last week and it did not go well. Najm completed just 9 of his 26 pass attempts for 138 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in a loss at home against Akron. If the Falcons don’t find better play at the quarterback position, they could lose to a winless team to end their season.
UMass has turned to multiple quarterbacks throughout the season, but none have truly settled into the starting role. Grant Jordan has been among those taking snaps, but execution issues in the passing game have made explosive plays rare. Jordan failed to complete half of his passes in a 42-14 loss to Ohio, throwing for just 56 yards.

Final Thoughts
I’m not expecting UMass to get a win in this game, but I do think that they’re going to cover the spread as a home dog in this matchup. Bowling Green’s quarterback situation is no better than that of UMass going into this contest. This won’t be an aesthetically pleasing game and I’ll take the points with the home dog.
