Elks vs Lions Betting Preview
The Edmonton Elks have a big task in front of them in the form of the British Columbia Lions, who looked like their old selves in last week’s 32-17 thumping of Saskatchewan. The Elks are coming off a bye week and have a score to settle after their opening week 59-15 loss to British Columbia.
The Elks have a major disadvantage in playing in the West, where they’ve gone 0-5 but have won both games against the East. That doesn’t bode well against the 5-1 Lions. Edmonton’s best chance to keep this one close would be to run the ball, which isn’t something they do very well.
After seeing their offensive output dropping for several straight weeks, the Lions got back last week in their 32-17 victory over Saskatchewan. Nathan Rourke threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, as British Columbia had a 443-226 yardage advantage.
The Lions’ offense and Rourke get most of the attention, but the British Columbia defense has been solid all season. British Columbia has held four of seven opponents to 17 or fewer points and the Lions are No. 1 in total defense and second in points allowed.

Elks vs Lions Pick & Prediction
Beating a team by double digits in consecutive games isn’t always an easy task, but the Lions have the personnel to do exactly that. A game at Calgary next week could see British Columbia looking ahead a little bit, although that may affect the total more than the side. Even if the Lions are going through the motions a bit, they’re facing an Elks defense that allows 5.7 yards per carry and James Butler could have a big day.
The total might be a little bit low, the British Columbia defense is capable of holding the Elks in check offensively.
Pick: Lions -10.5
