Lions vs Stampeders Betting Preview
The British Columbia Lions and Calgary Stampeders will battle it for second-place in the West, with both teams having only losses to Winnipeg on their early season resumes. The Bombers defeated the Lions 43-22 on the road and then took two straight from Calgary, 26-19 and 35-28. But that’s pretty much where the similarities between the two teams ends.

The Lions look like an up-and-coming team led by quarterback Nathan Rourke, who has thrown for more than 2,400 yards and 21 touchdowns in just seven games. The Lions are second in the league in rushing, although part of that is also Rourke, who has run for 233 yards and five touchdowns. James Butler leads the team with 433 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The Lions’ defense has also been up to the occasion, ranking second in points allowed and leading the league in yards allowed. The Lions are the only team allowing fewer than 250 passing yards per game.
Calgary’s defense is strong as usual, but quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell is looking like a QB on the downside of his career. In seven games, Mitchell has just seven touchdown passes and he is No. 7 in passing yards.

Lions vs Stampeders Pick & Prediction
We could be seeing a changing of the guard in the West, with the Lions taking over for Calgary as the No. 2 team, but it’s still tough to go against the Stampeders as a home underdog. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, the Stampeders have been a decent wager, going 8-3 straight-up and against the spread since 2007.
The stats all favor the Lions, but Calgary did play Winnipeg tougher both times and they have a fighting chance in this one. With out week 10 CFL Predictions, we are going with the Stampeders.
CFL Pick: Calgary +2
