Fanatics went live in 2023 and expanded pretty fast after buying PointsBet’s U.S. operations. That deal gave Fanatics access to existing sportsbook licenses in roughly a dozen states, which made the rollout a lot easier. Since then, it’s launched in more and more places where online sports betting is legal.
Where Is Fanatics Casino Legal?
Fanatics also has a real-money casino app. But it’s nowhere near as widely available as the sportsbook. Only seven U.S. states have legalized iGaming so far, and Fanatics is live in four of them right now:
- Michigan
- New Jersey
- Pennsylvania
- West Virginia

The other three iGaming states are Connecticut, Delaware, and Rhode Island. But they each only have one or two platforms that they work with (and allow to operate there). Those spots are basically locked up for now, so Fanatics doesn’t really have a way in.
Basically, unless more states decide to legalize online gambling, the casino side probably won’t be expanding much anytime soon.
What Makes Fanatics Sportsbook Legal in These States?
Fanatics Sportsbook is legal in the states where 1) online sports betting has been approved and 2) the company has been awarded an operating license by that state’s gaming regulator.
As long as Fanatics follows the rules those regulators set (things like verifying a user’s age, confirming their location, and offering responsible gaming tools), it can legally offer its sportsbook in that market.
Fanatics Sportsbook Age Requirement by State
At Fanatics Sportsbook, the legal age requirement is 21+ years old, regardless of which state you’re in.
For example, in states like Kentucky and Wyoming, the law only requires sports bettors to be 18 or older. But you’ll still need to be at least 21 years or older to use the Fanatics Sportsbook app to bet on sports there.
How to Register for Fanatics Sportsbook in Legal States
Once you’ve made sure you’re physically located in a state where Fanatics Sportsbook is actually legal, getting set up isn’t hard. Here’s basically what you do:
- Download the Fanatics Sportsbook app. It’s free in the App Store for iOS and Google Play Store for Android.
- Create your account. You’ll type in your name, where you live, some basic contact info, your date of birth, and the last four digits of your SSN. Every now and then, the Fanatics app might ask for a quick ID scan too (just to make sure it’s really you).
- Put some money in your account. Pick whichever payment option you want and make your first deposit. They accept debit cards, Apple Pay, Venmo, and more.
- Opt into the welcome offer. Fanatics usually gives new users bonus bets or no-sweat bets of some kind. No promo code needed. You just have to opt in so it’s applied to your account.
- Look around and place a bet. Once you’re in, just scroll through all the betting markets, and find something you want to wager on. Then, just enjoy the whole sports betting experience. And make sure to bet responsibly.
Fanatics Retail Sportsbooks
Fanatics also operates retail sportsbooks in seven states across the U.S. These are in-person betting locations where you can walk in and place bets on spreads, totals, same-game parlays, and pretty much everything else the online app offers.

When Will Fanatics Sportsbook Launch in My State?
Here’s the full list of states where Fanatics Sportsbook isn’t legal right now:
- Alabama
- Alaska
- Arkansas
- California
- Delaware
- Florida
- Georgia
- Hawaii
- Idaho
- Maine
- Minnesota
- Mississippi
- Montana
- Nebraska
- Nevada
- New Hampshire
- New Mexico

- Oklahoma
- Oregon
- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
- South Dakota
- Texas
- Utah
- Wisconsin
You’ll have to wait until your state legalizes online sports betting and Fanatics gets approval to launch there. And honestly, it might not be that far off. Sports betting keeps getting more popular across the U.S., and Fanatics is expanding at a pretty fast pace.
In the meantime, here are some things you can do while you wait:
- Check out other top online sportsbooks: This makes the most sense if you live somewhere online betting is legal but Fanatics hasn’t gone live yet (states like Maine, Nevada, Oregon, Florida, etc.).
- Try social sportsbooks: These use virtual currency and pay out cash prizes through a sweepstakes model. They’re allowed in most states that don’t have legalized sports betting (places like California, Georgia, Texas, and a bunch of others).
- Try DFS apps: Daily fantasy sports are available in a ton of states and are a solid alternative if your state hasn’t legalized online sports betting yet.

Fanatics Sportsbook Legal States FAQs
Fanatics Sportsbook is currently legal in Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
No, not in South Carolina. Online sports betting isn’t legal there at the moment. But if you live close to North Carolina, you can always cross over and use the Fanatics app to place bets as soon as you’re on the NC side of the border.
Yup, it’s legal in Missouri. Fanatics Sportsbook went live there on December 1, 2025. If you’re anywhere in the state, you can just open the app and bet. Doesn’t matter if you’re at home, at work, or wherever. As long as you’re physically located in Missouri, it’ll work for you.
It works if you’re traveling to a state where Fanatics is legal. For example, if you’re in New York, you can open the app and place bets just fine. But if you’re in Florida, it won’t work since it’s not legal there. The app checks where you actually are before it lets you make a bet.
No, a VPN won’t work. Fanatics can usually tell when you’re using one, and the app will just block you from betting. To place wagers, you have to be inside a legal state, and it uses your phone’s real location to confirm that.
