Ryan Crouser is the odds-on favorite to win the Olympic men’s shot put event at the Paris Olympics. Whether or not Joe Kovacs of the United States can finally work his way past Crouser is another huge storyline going into these Olympics in the shot put. Kovacs has finished second to Crouser in each of the last two Olympics and hasn’t been able to take gold from him in any event since. But a gold medal here on the biggest stage would erase some of the pain of finishing second to Crouser so often.
