When most people think about social casino games, slots, blackjack, roulette, and poker are usually some of the first names that come to mind. While those games are still popular, they’re no longer the only options available.
Over the past few years, many social casinos have introduced new game types that offer a very different experience than spinning reels or sitting at a virtual card table. Here are five non-traditional games you can play at the top social casinos in the U.S. today.

If you’ve ever watched game shows like The Price Is Right or The Wall, you’re probably already familiar with the basic idea behind Plinko. Today, it’s also one of the most common non-traditional games you’ll find at social casinos.
Players drop a ball from the top of a board and watch it bounce through a series of pegs before landing in a slot at the bottom. Each slot is tied to a different multiplier, with some offering much larger prizes than others.
One of my favorite places to play Plinko is Luck Party, a social casino that offers several variations of the game, including Playzia Plinko, Slam Dunk Plinko, and Plinko 2 Multiplier Madness.
2. Crash
Crash games are another one of the most popular non-traditional game types at social casinos. The concept is pretty simple: A multiplier starts increasing from 1x and continues climbing until the game suddenly “crashes.”
Players can cash out at any point before the crash occurs. However, if they wait too long and the crash happens first, they lose the round.
Stake.us is probably best known for its exclusive “Stake Original” version of Crash, though many other social casinos now offer similar games. For example, Moozi Casino features several crash game variants, including Space XY and Triple Cash or Crash.
Part of the appeal is the balance between risk and reward. Cashing out early usually means a smaller multiplier, while waiting longer gives you a chance to earn more, but also increases the risk of walking away with nothing.
3. Mines
Next, let’s take a look at Mines, a game that has become more and more common at social casinos in recent years.
The game is played on a grid of hidden tiles. Players reveal tiles one at a time, trying to uncover safe spaces while avoiding hidden mines. Each successful pick increases the multiplier, giving players the option to cash out or keep going.
While there are several different versions of Mines available, the basic idea is always the same: the more risk you take, the larger the potential reward.
One of my favorite places to play Mines is Legendz Casino, which offers a Legendz Original version of the game.
It features a 5×5 grid and allows players to choose anywhere from 1 to 24 hidden detonators before the round begins. Safe picks are represented by gems, and each gem you uncover increases the multiplier. However, if you reveal a detonator, the round ends immediately.
4. Chicken Cross
Fourth on our list is Chicken Cross games, which are sometimes also called “Chicken Road” games. While they’re somewhat similar to crash games, the gameplay is a little bit different.
In most versions, players guide a chicken (or another animal) across a road filled with obstacles. Each successful crossing increases the multiplier, but one wrong move ends the round. Like Crash, players can cash out at any time or keep going in hopes of reaching a larger multiplier.
One place where I’ve seen several versions of Chicken Cross is Big Pirate Casino. Along with Chicken Champions and Cross The Lake, the site also offers Tappy Bird, a title inspired by the hit mobile game Flappy Bird.
While each version has its own theme and visuals, they all follow the same basic risk-and-reward concept.
5. Fish Shooting Games
Last but not least are fish shooting games, which are also commonly called “fish table games” or just “fishing games.” As the names suggest, these games are usually (but not always) themed around fish, sea creatures, and underwater adventures.
The basic idea is pretty simple. Players use virtual weapons to shoot fish and other targets as they move across the screen. Different creatures are worth different amounts, and larger targets are usually harder to take down.
One of my favorite places to play fish shooting games is Funrize. The site offers several titles in the category, including Ocean Hunter, Lucky Fishing, Zombie Circus, and Candy Heroes.
