Key Storylines
- Arizona started their season with a win on the road over the New Orleans Saints. The Cardinals bent but didn’t break on defense. They held the Saints to a 1/4 scoring clip in the red zone and will need to be better between the 20s in this game.
- Carolina got blown out in Jacksonville to open their 2025 season. Panthers quarterback Bryce Young struggled after an encouraging end to his 2024 season. Young has to get back on track for Carolina to compete on the road here.
- This is the second straight road game for Carolina and the travel demands put on the Panthers early in the season could make things even tougher on them.
- Marvin Harrison Jr. started his season with a touchdown reception against the Saints. Harrison had eight touchdowns in his rookie season and is off to a promising start this year.
Quarterback Play
Kyler Murray had a solid season opener for Arizona. Murray completed 21 of his 29 passes and had two touchdown passes. He wasn’t spectacular, but Murray doesn’t need to be spectacular. He just needs to avoid making mistakes and he did that for the Cardinals in Week 1.
Bryce Young took a step forward late in 2024 but took a step right back in Week 1 of the 2025 season. Young completed just 18 of his 35 passes with one touchdown and two interceptions. Nearly half of his passing yards went to rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan and Young needs to spread the ball around more effectively this week.
Betting Trends & H2H
- Arizona is 1-0 against the spread so far this season.
- Carolina did not cover the spread in its season opener.
- The Cardinals and Panthers both saw their first game go under their totals.

Final Thoughts
I recommend laying the points with the Arizona Cardinals in their Week 2 meeting with the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers looked dreadful offensively against Jacksonville and should struggle on that side of the ball in their second straight road game. The Cardinals should win this game by at least a touchdown and prop bettors may want to back Marvin Harrison Jr. to score for the second game in a row.
