Key Storylines
- Oregon’s road dominance: The Ducks have won nine straight games away from home. They have made a habit of going into hostile environments and getting the job done under head coach Dan Lanning and will try to get another win on the road in this game.
- Rutgers’ red zone inefficiency: The Scarlet Knights have converted only 16 of 27 red zone trips into touchdowns. That is a 59.3% conversion rate. That won’t be good enough here against an Oregon team that is so good at finishing drives.
- Defensive discrepancy: Oregon’s defense ranks among the national leaders in points allowed at 15.2 PPG. Rutgers’ defense has struggled, especially against mobile quarterbacks. Rutgers’ defense will need to be close to perfect to keep their team in this game.
- Rutgers homecoming: Rutgers is hosting this game during homecoming. That might not help the Scarlet Knights stay in this contest, but stranger things have happened.
- Ducks Looking to Bounce Back: Oregon took their first loss of the season last week against a very good Indiana team. There is no shame in losing a game like that, but Oregon can’t afford to let that performance drag them down in this game.
Quarterback Play
Oregon’s Dante Moore has thrown for over 1,300 yards so far this season with 15 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also contributed on the ground and forces defenses to account for both his passing and scrambling ability.
Rutgers’ quarterback is Athan Kaliakmanis. He has thrown for 1,785 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions. While Rutgers is not as good as Oregon overall, the Scarlet Knights do have a quarterback who can keep them in games like this one.

- Oregon games are 3-3 on over/unders thus far.

Final Thoughts
We should see Oregon bounce back from their first loss of the season in this game. It took a great performance from an elite Indiana team to hand Oregon their first loss of the season. I don’t think that Rutgers’ roster is capable of a similar showing. I’ll lay the points with the Ducks in this game.
