Key Storylines
Oregon has galloped out to an 8-1 record and has won three games in a row after losing to Indiana. Minnesota has managed a 6-3 mark in spite of a far less explosive offense. The Gophers are coming off a bye week, which can often be a positive situational angle, while Oregon is coming off a win over Iowa that was closer than many expected that game to be.
A big question going into this game will be whether Minnesota can find a way to put up a fight on the road against a Big Ten opponent. The Golden Gophers have been destroyed in each of their last two road games. They have been outscored by a combined margin of 83-6 by Ohio State and Iowa on the road. They will need to be a lot better if they want any shot at being competitive in this contest.
Minnesota’s strength lies on defense, especially in their sack and havoc rates. But they struggle to generate explosive plays on offense. Oregon’s overall quality should win out unless that changes for the Golden Gophers.
Quarterback Play
Dante Moore has been efficient and productive for Oregon. He enters this game with a 19:5 TD–INT ratio, 11.9 yards per completion, and 9.0 adjusted net yards per attempt. Minnesota’s Drake Lindsey has completed 62.2% of his passes for 1,743 yards, with a 10:6 TD–INT ratio and just 6.3 adjusted net yards per attempt. His deep pass success is low at 20.6% and that will allow the Oregon defense to key in on the run and the short passing game for the most part.

Final Thoughts
This game is likely to be another case where Minnesota can’t keep up with a Big Ten opponent on the road. I’m going to lay the points with Oregon here, as I’m troubled by the fact that the Golden Gophers have scored just six points combined in their last two road games. Dante Moore and the Ducks should be able to create enough separation to cover the number in this one.
