The Bowling Green Falcons and Cincinnati Bearcats will face off in Week 2 of the college football season on Saturday. The Bearcats are huge favorites at home after a disappointing season opener at a neutral site. They will look to bounce back against a MAC opponent that made a bowl game last season. Key Storylines
- Cincinnati is coming off a tight 20-17 loss against Nebraska in Kansas City. Its offense looked stagnant through the air and reliant on QB Brendan Sorsby’s legs.
- Bowling Green got a win in its debut under first-year head coach Eddie George. That 26-7 season-opening win over Lafayette was comfortable enough. But it also came against a low-level FCS opponent and the Falcons will be in for a tougher test on the road here.
- Cincinnati’s offense ranked in the bottom 40 in FBS last week in several key categories. To be fair, that came against a respectable Big Ten team. The Bearcats will be expected to perform better on offense in this matchup against a MAC school.
Quarterback Play
Cincinnati’s Brendan Sorsby struggled through the air with just 69 yards passing and an interception against Nebraska. He sparkled as a rushing threat with 96 yards and two touchdowns. But he will need to be better through the air than he is on the ground for the Bearcats to have success in the long run. Bowling Green’s Drew Pyne was efficient last week. He completed 12 of 18 passes for 109 yards with no turnovers. He’ll need to do more for the Falcons to hang with Cincinnati.
Betting Trends & H2H
- Cincinnati did lose to Nebraska last week. But the Bearcats did cover the spread in that game.
- Bowling Green’s 19-point win over the Lafayette Leopards was not enough to cover the spread in their opener.
- Both teams went under the total in their season-opening games and will look to open things up more offensively in this contest.
Bowling Green vs Cincinnati Model Projection

Win Probability: Cincinnati 85%, Bowling Green 15%
Final Thoughts
The Bearcats are heavy favorites in this game for good reason. Their rushing attack should remain strong both at quarterback and otherwise this weekend. But I also expect their passing game to be better this week than it was against the Cornhuskers. I will lay the points with Cincinnati here, as they should bounce back convincingly after losing a power conference matchup to start their 2025 campaign.
