The Senators have struggled mightily on the road throughout this season, with their 11 road wins coming in as second-fewest in the Eastern Conference this season. Only the Columbus Blue Jackets have won fewer road games in the East this year.
Along with the struggles of the Sens on the road, Buffalo has a pretty clear edge defensively going into tonight’s Senators vs Sabres clash. The Sabres have allowed over 30 fewer goals than the Senators to this point in the season. Look for Buffalo’s defense to remain superior to that of Ottawa in this game, which will help the Sabres get a win on their home ice.
The playoff hopes for the Sabres are slim at this point, as they need to make up 12 points on the Tampa Bay Lightning with only 10 games to go. But both teams in this game are still mathematically alive for the playoffs, even if they may not be for long. As a result, we should see a competitive contest here, one that the Sabres should end up getting the better of when the final horn sounds.
