Going into Thursday’s Rangers vs Avalanche matchup, the Colorado Avalanche have been on fire. They have won nine of their last 10 games and 11 of their last 13. That has put them just two points out of first place in the Central Division, where they trail the Dallas Stars by a slim margin late in the regular season. Here, the Avs play a Rangers team that is playing some excellent hockey of their own of late.
New York comes into this game on a three-game winning streak and having won seven of their last 10 games. The Rangers have wins over the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers during their recent winning streak, which is very impressive given how well those two teams have been playing themselves. But asking the Rangers to win in Colorado might be too tall a task for them on Thursday night.
Colorado has been one of the best home teams in the NHL this season, going 28-7 in their 35 games at Ball Arena. That 80% win rate is incredible and has helped them to be deserved favorites in this inter-conference matchup on the ice. It is also a big reason that we like the Avs to win this game, even against a team as talented as the Rangers.
