Key Storylines
Recent form
- The Panthers enter on a high note, having demolished Ottawa 6–2 in their most recent outing. Their power play was firing on all cylinders and that win came despite Florida missing a number of key players due to injury.
- Philadelphia dropped a 4–3 overtime decision against Carolina in their last game. A potential game-winning goal was nullified for goaltender interference just before Carolina struck in OT.
- The Panthers beat the Flyers in Philadelphia’s first game of the season and the Flyers will look for revenge in Philly in this game.
Goaltending
Sergei Bobrovsky has been solid for Florida early on. He made 26 saves in the 6–2 rout of Ottawa. He has a 1.67 GAA going into this contest and Florida has not give up more than two goals in a game yet this year. Philly goaltenders Samuel Ersson and Dan Vladar both took losses in their first outings of the season. Their GAAs haven’t been as good as that of Bobrovsky, but they have been decent and need help from their offense to break into the win column.
Key skaters
- Florida: The Panthers are managing to generate scoring even without stars like Barkov, who is out for the season with knee surgery, and Matthew Tkachuk who is currently injured. Players like Brad Marchand and Evan Rodrigues have made impacts early in the year to help replace their production.
- Philadelphia: Philadelphia doesn’t have a player with more than one goal to their name this season. It’s early in the year, but the Flyers are averaging just two goals per game and they need more out of Noah Cates and the rest of their attacking players.
Recent team streaks
- Florida enters this game on a three-game winning streak.
- Philadelphia has lost their first two games of this season, with one of those losses coming in regulation and one in overtime.

Final Thoughts
This game is not going to be easy for the Panthers, as they hit the road for the first time this season. But I do still think that the Panthers will get a win to extend their winning streak to four straight games. The defense of the Panthers should shut down the struggling attackers of Philadelphia and I’ll take the Panthers to win.
