The Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Dublin to face off in Week 4 of the NFL season. Both teams come into this matchup in Ireland with identical 2-1 records. The Vikings will look to overcome a quarterback injury to get a second win in a row and Pittsburgh will try to find success away from Acrisure Stadium for the third time on the young season. Here, I break down this matchup in the betting markets and you can find my Vikings vs Steelers prediction below.

Key Storylines
- Vikings’ defense is surging: Minnesota smothered Cincinnati in Week 3. The Vikings forced five turnovers, scored two defensive touchdowns, and held the Bengals to 10 points in a 48-10 beatdown. Minnesota will hope their defense travels across the pond this week.
- Quarterback turnover in Minnesota: Rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy is out with a high ankle sprain for the Vikings. Carson Wentz stepped in and delivered a solid performance in Week 3 and Wentz will try to do the same against a Steelers defense that had its best performance of the season last week against the Patriots.
- Return of Jordan Addison: Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison is eligible to come back this week after a three-game suspension. His return adds another weapon for Wentz to work with, which could help against Pittsburgh’s secondary.
- Steelers offense seeking consistency: Pittsburgh’s offense has shown flashes with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback but they have been inconsistent. Last week against New England, the Steelers won but were held to just 21 points. They face a much stiffer test against Minnesota’s upgraded defense this week.
- Neutral site in Dublin: This is effectively a neutral site game. Travel, an unfamiliar environment, and the lack of a home crowd could have an impact on both sides. The field itself could also pose problems as the footing at some international stadiums differs from the footing on a regular American football field.
Quarterback Play
Carson Wentz is expected to continue as the Vikings’ starter while JJ McCarthy recovers. Wentz looked good enough against the Bengals, taking care of the football and making smart reads for the most part. He is not a huge downfield threat, but Minnesota’s scheme and weapons allow him to be productive as a temporary solution.
Aaron Rodgers has been his usual high-risk, high-reward self through three weeks as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rodgers has seven touchdown passes and three interceptions. As long as he avoids mistakes this week, he should keep the Steelers in contention to win this contest.

Final Thoughts
The Vikings looked excellent last week against the Bengals. But they were fortunate to have faced a backup quarterback in Jake Browning in that game. This week, the Vikings won’t have the luxury of terrorizing a backup signal caller. I’ll take the Steelers to cover the number as an underdog in this matchup from Dublin.
