The Cleveland Browns and New York Jets will meet in a game that more closely resembles a Toilet Bowl than a Super Bowl. These teams have a combined three wins so far this season. But one of them will walk away with a win this week, barring a tie at the Meadowlands. Before these struggling teams go at it on Sunday, continue reading to get my Browns vs Jets prediction.

Key Storylines
The biggest storyline going into this game is the degree to which the Jets were sellers at the trade deadline. New York recently traded away Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. Their defense could struggle mightily to replace those two players. The Jets are coming off a bye week after a miracle comeback against the Cincinnati Bengals and they will try to get a second straight win in spite of all of the changes on defense.
Cleveland is also coming off a bye week and has made a major change on offense. Head coach Kevin Stefanski is handing play-calling duties to coordinator Tommy Rees in hopes of sparking an offense that has averaged just 15.8 points per game. The Browns’ defense remains among the league’s best in yards allowed. But they have been much better at home than on the road defensively. That could be a problem in this road game against one of the worst teams in football.
Quarterback Play
Browns rookie Dillon Gabriel has emerged as the starting quarterback. He has 702 passing yards, five touchdown passes, and two interceptions entering this week. He continues to face pressure to prove his worth to a fan base that also has Shedeur Sanders on the roster.
New York’s Justin Fields has thrown for 1,089 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions in his seven games. He is also a capable runner and will likely need to run to evade a strong Cleveland pass rush in this game. Fields engineered a miracle comeback against the Bengals last time out and he will try to build on that performance in this game.

Final Thoughts
I don’t feel particularly confident in betting either side of this game. But I do think that we will see the Jets cover the spread as a home underdog here. The Browns have been much worse on defense on the road than they have been at home. I think that continues here and that Fields does just enough to lead the Jets to a win.
