Key Storylines
- Atlanta got its first win of the season in Week 2 by beating the Minnesota Vikings 22-6. Atlanta’s defense was special in that game and Michael Penix Jr. delivered another competent performance to get his team into the win column.
- Carolina is off to an 0-2 start after losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Arizona Cardinals over their first two games. This is the first home game of the season for the Panthers and they will hope that being at home can help them to end their early-season slide.
- Bijan Robinson is leading the Falcons in both rushing and receiving yards through the first two games of this season. He is a versatile weapon that the Falcons will be leaning on heavily in this game.
Quarterback Play
Michael Penix Jr. has one touchdown pass and no interceptions through two games. He has also made plays with his legs when his pocket has collapsed. Penix will need to do more with the football through the air around the end zone but he is off to an encouraging start to the season.
Bryce Young’s first two games have seen highs and lows. He has four touchdown passes and three interceptions so far for Carolina. He has had to throw the ball 90 times through two games, thanks in large part to the Panthers being down in each of their first two games. That is an insane ratio given that Young is not a good enough quarterback to be throwing that many times per game.
Betting Trends & H2H
- The Falcons are 1-1 against the spread to start the season.
- Carolina is also 1-1 against the spread for the season.
- Carolina is 1-1 in the over/under market to start the season.
- Atlanta has gone under the total in both of their games to begin the year.

Final Thoughts
We could see a better performance from the Panthers in this contest now that they are on their home turf for the first time this season. But I’m not ready to back either of these teams to cover the number here. Instead, I’ll take the under for this game, as we should see both offenses struggle on Sunday afternoon.
