ISCO Championship Preview
The ISCO Championship was formerly known as the Barbasol Championship. It has become a memorable stop on the PGA Tour deeper into the summer schedule. Now in its 10th edition, the event has moved to Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville for the first time after seven years in central Kentucky and previous stops in Alabama. This new course features narrow, tree-lined fairways, small bentgrass greens, and coastal‑grass roughs to contend with.
This tournament is historically dominated by players with strong scrambling and approach-game savvy. But that might not be the case anymore now that the tournament is being played at a new course that could play to the strengths of other styles.
This is a co‑sanctioned event with the DP Tour. As a result, many European Tour regulars have accepted invitations. Familiar names like Seamus Power and Rico Hoey are in the field alongside PGA Tour grinders. While the marquee names on the PGA Tour have all headed to the Scottish Open, the ISCO Championship is a chance for rising talents and less-heralded pros to shine.

Emiliano Grillo is among the favorites to win this tournament. He lost in a playoff in last week’s John Deere Classic, finishing second to Brian Campbell. There will be questions about his ability to sustain that level of play for a second week in a row. If he can, he could easily win this tournament.
ISCO Championship Prediction
My best bet for this week’s ISCO Championship is for Seamus Power to come out on top. When it comes to strokes gained, Power is among the best players in this field. Without the top players on the PGA Tour competing here, a player like Power is in prime position to capitalize.
One golfer I don’t recommend betting on in this tournament is Grillo. He looked excellent at the John Deere Classic. But that was his first top-10 finish of the year. I don’t expect him to deliver another one, as a lack of consistent play is something we’ve come to expect from him.
