Team USA will face Team Europe in the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York this weekend. Europe won the last Ryder Cup, but the host side has won the last five editions of this competition and the Americans will try to keep that trend going. Before the action tees off from the US, you can continue reading to get my 2025 Ryder Cup prediction.
The Ryder Cup often depends less on which team is better on paper than which team can thrive in match play. Europe won by a comfortable margin in 2023 thanks to strong match play performances. But they face a daunting challenge as they look to win on U.S. soil. Historically, Europe has struggled to take the Cup away from home. The Americans, meanwhile, will have the crowd on their side and a ton of talent as they look to take the Ryder Cup back.
A major storyline to watch is how rookies in the Ryder Cup perform on this stage. Which inexperienced competitors can deliver under pressure will be huge toward the outcome here. But the eyes of the golf world will be on the stars in this event and they will likely decide the outcome once and for all.
Bethpage Black is one of the toughest golf courses in the world. The par-72 layout stretches over 7,400 yards and demands precision in every facet of the game. The U.S. team will have the right to shape tees and rough, which could tailor things to their strengths as a team. That said, the course’s difficulty levels tend to compress scores and let strong short-game performers stay in the fight.
Based on the odds, player strengths, course setup, and home-course advantage, I lean toward a U.S. win in the Ryder Cup. The home advantage in this event is a real factor, both in terms of crowd influence and course setup control. While Europe has star power and match-play experience, the Americans have won two straight Ryder Cups on home soil and three of the last four held in the United States.
In my view, the keys to this edition of the Ryder Cup are:
I see Team USA beating out Europe by a point, 14.5 to 13.5.
