- The Sun blew out the Fever in the fourth quarter of their first meeting this season in Connecticut, but Caitlin Clark has gained some valuable professional experience since then.
- Indiana kept things much closer in their second game against the Sun at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and we’ll take the big number with the underdog here.
The 2024 WNBA season began with a matchup between the Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena. The Sun won that matchup and the subsequent rematch in Indiana not long after. On Monday, Indiana and Connecticut will meet for a third time, with the Sun looking to bounce back from their first loss of the 2024 season. Here, we make our WNBA betting picks for Fever vs Sun in the lone WNBA game on the Monday schedule.
This game will be played at 7:00 PM ET at Mohegan Sun Arena on Monday, June 10, 2024.
Indiana Fever
The Indiana Fever come into Monday’s WNBA action at 3-9 on the season. That is good for 11th place in the 12-team WNBA. But the Fever did get a win in their most recent game, beating the Washington Mystics on the road on Friday night. They will look for a second consecutive victory here against a Connecticut Sun team that has beaten them twice already this year.
If the Fever want to have any chance to win tonight, Aliyah Boston is going to need to do a better job of dealing with the physicality of Connecticut around the paint. Boston averaged just 7.0 points per game in the two early matchups between these teams this season. While Caitlin Clark will also need to do better against the physical defense of the Sun, Boston’s interior presence will go a long way toward freeing up shooting space for the Indiana guards.
Something that will be working in the favor of the Fever here is the fact that they have had some recent rest. Indiana has played just one game over the past seven days heading into Monday’s action. We saw a rest advantage lead to a win over the Mystics and they will hope that rest equals results again here.
Connecticut Sun
The Connecticut Sun suffered their first loss of the 2024 WNBA season in their last outing. Connecticut lost a tight game at home to the New York Liberty on Saturday, relinquishing a fourth-quarter lead thanks to a monster effort from former Sun player Jonquel Jones. Connecticut is still in first place in the league standings with a 9-1 record and will aim to get back into the win column in tonight’s Fever vs Sun matchup.
Through two meetings with the Fever this season, Alyssa Thomas has averaged a triple-double. She was one assist shy of a triple-double in the season opener between these teams in Connecticut in mid-May, before getting one in the rematch in Indiana. Thomas will be on the hunt for another triple-double here and Connecticut’s success will once again hinge on her impacting the game in several ways.
Also impactful will be Brionna Jones in this matchup for Connecticut. The center of the Sun will be asked to do the bulk of the defending against Aliyah Boston, something she has handled well when given that assignment so far this year. If that continues, the Sun could win this game convincingly on their home floor to improve to 10-1 on the year.
