Key Storylines
- Quarterback instability for Cleveland. The Browns have pivoted to rookie Dillon Gabriel after trading Joe Flacco. Gabriel has had struggles adjusting to life in the NFL. But he faces a Miami defense that has struggled to this point in the season.
- Tua’s internal drama. The Dolphins are dealing with off-field noise after quarterback Tua Tagovailoa publicly criticized teammates for missing meetings. Head coach Mike McDaniel later called the comments “misguided.” On the field, Tua threw three interceptions in Week 6 in a game Miami lost against the LA Chargers.
- Running back production. Miami’s De’Von Achane remains a bright spot for the Dolphins. He rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns in Week 6. Cleveland’s rushing attack is led by rookie Quinshon Judkins, who has put up similar numbers to Achane for the season.
- Low scoring expectations. The total is set at 40.5, signaling expectations of a defensive struggle. Neither offense has been explosive, and both have turnover issues and offensive line play concerns.
- Desperate teams. At 1-5, both franchises might start to prioritize evaluation of younger players or coaching decisions as the season wears on. Tanking shouldn’t be a factor yet, but that moment could be approaching for the loser of this contest.
Quarterback Play
Tua Tagovailoa has thrown for 1,213 yards over six games, with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has been sacked 13 times and is without his top target in Tyreek Hill. Tagovailoa needs to perform well after being involved in some distractions over the last few days.
Dillon Gabriel has attempted 89 passes, completing 51 throws for 430 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. In this matchup, Tua has the experience edge but must avoid turnovers to avoid being outplayed by more of a game manager in Gabriel.

Final Thoughts
I think we are in for another ugly slog of a Cleveland Browns football game here. Both teams will struggle to put points on the board. And while I expect Cleveland to win given what a circus the Dolphins have been lately, my best bet for this game is the under.
