The 2025 Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix is set to take place on Sunday, July 27, at the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Last year, it was Lewis Hamilton who took the top spot at this race. But it is the McLaren drivers who are favored to come out on top this time around. Continue reading to get my analysis ahead of this year’s race, including my 2025 Belgian Grand Prix prediction.

Belgian Grand Prix Preview
This year’s Belgian Grand Prix arrives amid a tight championship battle. McLaren have surged ahead in the Constructors’ Championship. They have been dominant throughout the season thanks to drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Both have claimed multiple podiums and victories during the season. Norris took the win on home soil at Silverstone in the last race. His confidence is sky-high heading into Spa. Norris still trails Piastri by a handful of points, though.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has been slightly underperforming in qualifying sessions. His focus will be on recovery strategies and race pace over outright one-lap speed. Mercedes will hope that George Russell’s ability to impress in qualifying helps them to get a win in this race. However, their race pace remains slightly behind the leaders. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc brings impressive one-lap speed and has a solid qualifying record. But his racecraft at Spa remains unproven this season.
Belgian Grand Prix Track Info
- Length: 7.004 km (longest on the calendar), 44 laps
- Key sections: Eau Rouge-Raidillon, Kemmel Straight, Pouhon. Spa tests both bravery and aerodynamics
- Weather: Often rainy or overcast. Tyre choice and pit timing are critical.
- Track updates: Safety upgrades and new resurfacing in recent years have altered grip, particularly affecting lap times and tyre wear.
Betting Odds
Below are the current outright win odds for this race from bet365:
- Lando Norris +162
- Oscar Piastri +162
- Max Verstappen +400
- Charles Leclerc +1400
- George Russell +1400
- Lewis Hamilton +1400
- Kimi Antonelli +6600
This looks like another race where the McLaren drivers are going to have one another as their biggest competition. Verstappen can’t be ruled out in this race either. He’s won this event three times. But with the way Norris and Piastri have been driving, it is hard for me to see anyone else winning this race.
Belgian Grand Prix Prediction
I don’t think we are going to see another shocking result like we did last year at this track. Lewis Hamilton is not performing well enough to trouble Norris and Piastri in my opinion. I don’t believe enough in LeClerc and Russell to trouble McLaren either. Instead, I am going to go with Piastri to win this race and continue McLaren’s run of dominance.
Piastri is eight points ahead of Norris in the race for the driver’s championship in Formula 1. With Norris winning the British GP, it feels like Piastri is primed to strike back this weekend. I’ll back him to do exactly that at +162 to win.
