The top 30 golfers on the PGA Tour will battle in Atlanta in the 2025 Tour Championship this weekend. Scottie Scheffler is a heavy favorite to win this event after coming back to win the BMW Championship last week. But this field is full of talent and it will take a special performance from no matter who comes out on top. Tour Championship Preview
Scottie Scheffler comes into this week with all of the momentum. He secured his fifth win of the season by winning the BMW Championship. Scheffler will need to outperform the rest of the field without the starting strokes that were a part of the previous Tour Championship structure. But Scheffler has proven that he is more than good enough to do just that.
Rory McIlroy is second in the standings and a three-time FedEx Cup winner. He is well-rested and has experience on this course. He is expected to be the top competition for Scheffler in this touranment. Other contenders like Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg, and Collin Morikawa may offer value at slightly longer odds. Morikawa in particular remains intriguing after he outscored Scheffler over 72 holes last year before the starting strokes came into play.
The removal of starting strokes opens the field for all 30 competitors. Golfers like Sam Burns and J.J. Spaun could also threaten if they find a way to capitalize on East Lake’s layout. But any of the 30 golfers in this field could finish in first place without a handicap to worry about.

Tour Championship Prediction
Scheffler is the best golfer in the world right now and I don’t think anybody would disagree with that. But betting on him to win this tournament at such short odds seems short-sighted given how good the rest of this field is. Instead of going with Scheffler, I think there is more value on McIlroy at +850 to come away with the Tour Championship.
McIlroy has the experience necessary on this course to get the job done. He has also found a way to best Scheffler in some of the biggest tournaments of the year. I recommend betting on McIlroy and to consider a shot at longer odds on someone like Morikawa.
