UConn will head to Newark (Delaware, not New Jersey) to face the Delaware Blue Hens on Saturday afternoon. Both of these teams are 1-1 early in the season with a win over an FCS team and a loss to a power conference team. Key Storylines
- Both of these teams won their season openers by double-digits against FCS opponents before losing to FBS foes last week. UConn lost in overtime to Syracuse and Delaware fell on the road against Colorado. One team will get their first FBS win of the season here.
- This is the first home game for Delaware as an FBS team against an FBS opponent. It will be interesting to see what the atmosphere is like and whether any UConn crowd support shows up for a game in their region.
- Delaware does not have a 100-yard rusher through the first two games of the season. They have prioritized passing the ball early in the year and how they choose to call offensive plays here could make a huge difference in their offensive success.
Quarterback Play
Joe Fagnano has looked sharp so far for UConn. He has thrown four touchdowns and has yet to throw an interception. Avoiding picks against Syracuse was impressive and Fagnano doing so again in this game could be the key to UConn avoiding a loss on the road.
Nick Minicucci was very good in Week 1 before struggling with one touchdown and one interception against Colorado last week. He has averaged 36 pass attempts per game early in the year and he will need to be efficient with that volume of pass attempts if Delaware is going to upset UConn and get their first FBS vs FBS win.

Final Thoughts
This will be an interesting game as it is the first real chance for Delaware to get a win as an FBS team against an FBS team. But I don’t think that is going to happen. UConn held their own very well against Syracuse last week and I think that the Huskies will win and cover the spread as a favorite on the road.
