- Chicago has covered the spread in three of their first four games to start this season.
- Chicago is arguably the best offensive rebounding team in the WNBA this season and they should use that to their advantage here.
The Seattle Storm were considered a super team going into the 2024 WNBA season, bringing in Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins-Smith to go alongside Jewell Loyd. But of the two teams in tonight’s Storm vs Sky matchup, the Sky have looked more like the team poised for greatness this year. Here, we give you our WNBA betting picks for this inter-conference matchup, as Seattle travels to Chicago for what should be an interesting one in the Windy City.
This game will be played at 8:00 PM ET at Wintrust Arena on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
Seattle Storm
The Seattle Storm are a mediocre 3-3 both straight up and against the spread to start the 2024 WNBA season. They lost their first two games to the Minnesota Lynx and have gone 3-1 since then, though their wins have come against Mystics and Fever teams with a combined record of 1-12. Now, the Storm will look to get their best win of the season so far as they face a tough Sky team on the road.
Seattle appears to be fully healthy coming into this game, which has not been a given for them early in the season. The Storm were without Nneka Ogwumike for a couple of games early on, after she suffered an ankle injury against the Lynx in Seattle’s second game of the season. But with everyone on the floor, this Seattle team will look to prove they are a legitimate contender both tonight and in the near future.
Chicago Sky
The Chicago Sky have gone just 2-2 to start this season, but they have covered the spread in three of their first four games. Chicago has proven to be one of the best rebounding teams in the WNBA, averaging 13.8 offensive rebounds per game to start the year. They will look to use that advantage to neutralize a strong Seattle frontcourt in tonight’s Storm vs Sky matchup.
While most of the attention for this Sky team has understandably been focused on their frontcourt, the guards of Chicago also deserve a ton of credit for the team’s decent start. Marina Mabrey, Diamond DeShields, and Dana Evans are all high-caliber scorers. Look for them to play a major role in the outcome of this game from Chicago, even if the overachieving bigs for the Sky continue to get the bulk of the credit.
