When the WNBA schedule was made, I would think a primetime game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky was set up to showcase a matchup between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. But both of those players could be missing from Saturday’s matchup at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Despite the lack of weird culture war storylines with those two stars out, I have broken this game down and you can keep reading to get my Sky vs Fever prediction in the betting markets.

Key Storylines
The Indiana Fever were blown out in their last game by the Phoenix Mercury on the road. Indiana dropped the final two games of their four-game road trip to the Mercury and the LA Sparks. They return home for this game and will look to get back on track despite still not having Caitlin Clark due to a groin injury.
Chicago dropped its last game at home to the Atlanta Dream. The Sky led by double-digits in the first half of that game but could not prevent Allisha Gray from getting going in the second half. Chicago is 8-22 on the season and are closing in on being mathematically eliminated from postseason contention. It will be up to Kamilla Cardoso to hold things down in the paint without Angel Reese, who is day-to-day with a back injury.
Indiana has playoff seeding to worry about in the rest of their games this season. The Fever enter this game outside of the top four in the WNBA standings. Staying outside the top four would mean going on the road to start the WNBA playoffs. Wins at home against bad teams like the Sky are essential if Indiana wants to move up in the standings.
Head-to-Head & Betting Trends
These teams have played three times already this year and Indiana has won all three of those games by double-digits. Whether or not Clark has played against Chicago has not mattered. The Sky have simply not been explosive enough offensively to keep up with the Fever or most other opponents this year. Indiana has gone 16-15 against the spread this season and Chicago is 13-17 against the spread.
Best Player Props to Watch
Player | Prop | Analysis |
---|---|---|
Aliyah Boston | Over 14.5 points | Boston should benefit greatly from the absence of Angel Reese in the paint if Reese is out. |
Kelsey Mitchell | Over 19.5 points | Mitchell’s usage has skyrocketed with Caitlin Clark out and she should have another big game here. |
Advanced Metrics & Trends
The Sky have been the second-worst team in the WNBA by most advanced metrics this season. They are 12th out of 13 teams in the league in offensive rating, defensive rating, and net rating. Only the Connecticut Sun rank worse in those three categories. Indiana is fifth in offensive rating and eighth in defensive rating.

Final Thoughts
Both of the most popular players in this matchup are likely to miss the game. But there is still value in the betting market here as far as I’m concerned. The Sky have not been able to stay competitive against Indiana in their three previous meetings this season. I don’t see that changing on Saturday. I will lay the points with the Fever at home.
