Key Storylines
- Washington enters Week 1 with Jayden Daniels back as their offensive engine after a breakout rookie season. The Commanders kept their core intact and made additions around him after finishing second in the NFC last year.
- Terry McLaurin resolved a contract dispute and is expected to be available for the Commanders. His presence takes pressure off secondary targets and improves Washington’s red zone options.
- The Giants revamped the quarterback room with veteran Russell Wilson expected to start. How quickly New York’s offense finds rhythm with him is central to any upset plan in this game.
Quarterback Play
Jayden Daniels showed last season that he can run and throw effectively. He had over 3,500 passing yards and 25 passing touchdowns while adding eye-catching rushing production. Daniels will try to avoid the dreaded sophomore slump starting with this game. But he is clearly better than most quarterbacks going into the second season of his career and should avoid any problems.
Russell Wilson brings veteran savvy and improvisational ability to the Giants. He signed a one-year deal to lead the Giants and offers the team an experienced hand after years of uncertainty at the position. The question is whether the Giants offensive line and scheme can protect him enough to let his strengths influence the game.
Best Player Props

Final Thoughts
In the long run, I think Russell Wilson represents a significant upgrade at quarterback over Daniel Jones. But the Giants are going to be outmanned in this matchup against a Washington team that finally has a reason to believe again. Washington should win this game by a touchdown at home and cover the number against the new-look Giants.
