Formula 1 will head to Singapore for the Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay Street Circuit. This is the first time that Singapore will be a sprint weekend. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris were beaten by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in Azerbaijan in the last race. Those three are the favorites to come out on top in this race as well. Before the action begins in Singapore, continue reading to get my Singapore Grand Prix prediction.
Our Singapore Grand Prix Pick
- Pick: Max Verstappen to win
- Confidence: ★★★★☆
Singapore Grand Prix Preview
Heading into the Singapore Grand Prix, McLaren leads the Constructors’ standings thanks to strong performances from Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. Those McLaren stars are in the top two in the driver standings as well and it would be hard to see one of them failing to win the individual championship. But Max Verstappen turned heads with a “Grand Slam” performance in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. He won the pole, fastest lap, and led all laps of the race.
That result temporarily silenced questions about Red Bull’s season and reestablished Verstappen as a threat to the McLaren stars. Piastri’s shocking first-lap crash in Baku puts pressure on McLaren in what has been a smooth season for them up until Azerbaijan.
Singapore will host its first-ever sprint race format this year. The Saturday sprint will impact grid position and that could have a huge impact in a circuit notorious for safety cars, limited overtaking, and tight walls to navigate. I expect the sprint to shake up the top 5, possibly elevating drivers who excel in short-run speed or utilize aggressive setups.

Singapore Grand Prix Prediction
Here is how I see this year’s Singapore GP unfolding:
- Pole/Sprint result: McLaren and Verstappen will battle fiercely. Norris and Piastri may split the front row, but Verstappen could sneak ahead in the sprint or qualifying order.
- Race pace: Verstappen has shown that when everything aligns, he can still dominate. Singapore’s high workload on tires and the need to avoid mistakes play to his strengths. McLaren’s pair must balance aggression with self-preservation, something Piastri did not do in Baku.
- Safety cars/interruptions: The Singapore GP historically includes at least one safety car, which may open windows for big changes in position depending on who takes advantage of them.
- Likely finishing order: Verstappen has a strong shot at victory. Behind him, McLaren’s Norris and Piastri will contest for top positions. Those three should finish on the podium in some order.
I predict Max Verstappen will take the win. Lando Norris will push hard and finish P2, with Oscar Piastri in P3. It may be too late for Verstappen to mount a serious title challenge, but he will win for the second race in a row here.
