Roman Dolidze vs Anthony Hernandez Preview
Roman Dolidze is a born finisher with 11 of his 15 career wins in MMA coming by knockout or submission. He lands 3.58 significant strikes per minute and will be at a volume disadvantage against the busier Hernandez in this matchup. Dolidze will need to defend against takedowns in this fight against a fighter in Hernandez who likes to change levels and control things from the ground.
Dolidze’s recent win over Marvin Vettori showcased his durability. He absorbed 111 strikes across 25 minutes yet outstruck Vettori by around 30 significant strikes. Dolidze has never been finished in his UFC tenure and he’s proven that he is able to hang with elite opponents.
Anthony Hernandez is a pressure presser who thrives on both striking volume and wrestling. He lands 4.50 significant strikes per minute while absorbing just 2.61. His takedown output is a key to his success. Hernandez averages over six takedowns per 15 minutes of action and his ability to get the fight to the ground and accumulate control time could be massive in a five-round fight.
Hernandez enters on a seven‑fight winning streak. That streak includes victories over Michel Pereira, Brendan Allen, and Edmen Shahbazyan. Hernandez has not lost a fight since 2020 and will look to keep that streak alive with a win in this main event.
Betting Insights
- Hernandez is a -310 favorite to win this fight. Dolidze is the underdog at +250.
- The total for the fight has been set at 3.5 rounds. The over is favored at -130 and the under is at even money.
- Hernandez is 2-0 in five-round fights in his career. That includes a fifth-round knockout win over Michel Pereira in 2024.
- This is Dolidze’s second straight main event on a Fight Night card. He beat Marvin Vettori in a five-round decision in March.
Roman Dolidze vs Anthony Hernandez Prediction
This fight is interesting in that I don’t think Dolidze has a ton of pathways to victory. The Georgian is at a disadvantage in terms of striking volume and he is also not as talented when it comes to accumulating takedowns. Hernandez should be able to dictate the terms of this fight and decide whether he wants to make it a striking affair or take things to ground. I’ll go with Hernandez to win this fight via decision as he should wear Dolidze down over 25 minutes.
