Mohammad Yahya enters this fight following two consecutive losses in the UFC. Yahya has undergone significant changes in his training regimen. That includes adjustments to his diet and a 12-week camp in preparation for this fight. He acknowledges the importance of this matchup and has stated it could be his last chance to remain in the UFC. Yahya will have the crowd in his corner in this fight on home soil in the United Arab Emirates. The question is whether or not that will be enough to help him get his first win.
Steven Nguyen is coming off of a loss in his last fight. He dropped his UFC debut by unanimous decision against Jarno Errens and will look to bounce back here. Nguyen went 2-1 in Dana White’s Contender Series before graduating to the UFC roster. While it is cool to see him fighting on home soil in this matchup, I think this might be his last fight as a member of the UFC roster.
Nguyen should be able to take care of business here. If he fails to do so, I think it would be justified for Nguyen to get cut. This feels like an old WWE Loser Leaves Town Match. I’ll take Nguyen to stick around at Yahya’s expense.
