- Cannonier has won two straight Fight Night main events and we will back him to get a third here.
- The only loss for Cannonier from 2021 to now has come against a great fighter in Israel Adesanya.
The final fight on the UFC Fight Night card from Louisville this weekend is in the middleweight division. There, Jared Cannonier and Nassourdine Imavov will close the show in what should be an evenly-matched bout between two fighters with experience main eventing cards of this caliber. Here, we give you our UFC best bets for Jared Cannonier vs Nassourdine Imavov.
Jared Cannonier
Jared Cannonier comes into this fight having won two straight fights, both of which were also Fight Night main events. He defeated Sean Strickland in December of 2022 and Marvin Vettori in June of 2023, winning both of those fights by decision. Here, he will look for a third straight victory and will hope that this Jared Cannonier vs Nassourdine Imavov fight can elevate him above the Fight Night cards he has been a fixture in of late.
The big advantage for Cannonier coming into this fight is his edge in the power department. There is an argument to be made that Imavov is the better fighter from a technique standpoint. But the fact that Cannonier can prevent Imavov from being the aggressor with his potential to really hurt the Frenchman should give Cannonier a great chance to win this fight.
Nassourdine Imavov
Nassourdine Imavov has gone 1-1-1 in his last three UFC fights, two of which have also been Fight Night main events. He lost to Sean Strickland in January of 2023, had a No Contest against Chris Curtis in June of 2023, and defeated Roman Dolidze in February of 2024. Now he will look for a second straight win in a main event slot that he also hopes will help him move onto bigger and better things.
Imavov is going to try and get this fight to the ground and keep it there to neutralize the power of Cannonier. The question is whether or not he can do that and if the takedown defense of Cannonier has improved over the course of his career. With Cannonier not facing too many wrestling-focused opponents of late, we will not know the answer to that question until we see this fight play out.
