Geoff Neal brings finishing power and relentless pressure from his southpaw stance. He lands over five significant strikes per minute at 53% accuracy and he is more than willing to take damage in order to dish it out. Neal’s style of fighting could cause him problems against a fighter in Prates who can put Neal to sleep if they get into long striking exchanges.
Carlos Prates is coming off his first loss since joining UFC in his last fight. He was beaten by unanimous decision in a five-round fight against Ian Machado Garry. Prates was taken out of his gameplan by a dominant Garry in that Fight Night main event. Now we will see what Prates is made of in terms of his resolve as he is asked to bounce back from his first loss since 2019 when he was in ONE Championship.
Neal is the more established name in UFC and his recent win over Rafael dos Anjos shows he still has what it takes to beat good competition. Prates has earned multiple Performance of the Night finishes in UFC. He’s scored knockout victories over fighters like Li Jingliang, Neil Magny, Charles Radtke, and Trevin Giles. It will take a great performance from one of these two men to earn the win on Saturday night.

As for who I think will get the better of those exchanges, I think it will be Prates. Prates faced a bad stylistic matchup against a fighter in Garry who is willing to grapple to win. Neal likely won’t do the same and Prates should get back into the win column with a knockout.
