Cody Brundage and Eric McConico will open the UFC Fight Night card in Las Vegas on Saturday. These fighters are fighting on incredibly short notice with Brundage moving up to light heavyweight. If nothing else, I think we are in for an interesting fight between two opponents that haven’t had much time to prepare for each other. Cody Brundage vs Eric McConico Preview
Both men accepted this fight on less than a week’s notice. This means that we aren’t going to see quite as diabolical a weight cut and that is good for both fighters going into this matchup. Brundage should feel especially comfortable as he moves up to light heavyweight and won’t have to cut for a middleweight fight this time around.
Cody Brundage is known as one of the UFC’s most unpredictable athletes. He’s had a career marked by incredible knockouts, disqualification finishes, no contests, and a recent overturn of what was initially ruled a loss into a majority draw. His last three fights have featured that majority draw against Mansur Abdul-Malik, a knockout of Julian Marquez, and a no contest against Abdul Razak Alhassan. Who knows what we will see next with Brundage involved?
Eric McConico steps in on short notice for just his second UFC appearance. The Arizona-based southpaw lost via knockout in his UFC debut against Nursulton Ruziboev in February. He will hope to improve in his second UFC fight now that he is more comfortable with fighting on this stage.

Cody Brundage vs Eric McConico Prediction
This is a strange fight to handicap in that we don’t know how these fighters are going to respond to being added to this card with such short notice. Brundage is the more experienced fighter overall, but I’m not sure that general fight experience can prepare someone to go into a fight so soon after finding out the fight is happening.
I will go with Brundage to win this fight, barring one of his typically chaotic non-outcomes. But I’m interested to see how both of these fighters look coming out of the gate given all of the unpredictability surrounding this situation.
